Care & upkeep

Keep the ritual. Care for the tools.

Remove sharpening dust, look after the wood, and know what to check before your next session.

Brush away loose dust

Sharpening produces small metal particles. After safely putting the knife aside, use a soft, dry brush to lift loose dust from the base and roller surfaces. Collect the dust with a cloth; avoid blowing it into the air or wiping it toward a blade edge.

Keep the EdgeRoll roller and abrasive faces dry. Do not soak them or add oil to the abrasive surfaces. Do not assume that a cleaning method for a different abrasive applies to this set.

Treat the wood gently

Wipe the wood base with a barely damp cloth, then dry promptly. Do not soak it, leave it in a wet sink, or put any part of the set in a dishwasher. Keep it away from prolonged moisture and direct heat.

Do not oil the abrasive faces. Wood treatments, solvents, and detergents should only be used if the tool’s care instructions specifically permit them.

A clean, dry set is a good place to start the next session.

Clean the knife separately

Metal dust does not belong in your next meal. Clean and dry the knife according to its maker’s instructions before food preparation, keeping fingers clear of the cutting edge. Store the knife safely rather than leaving it attached to the angle base.

Store the sharpener dry and out of children’s reach. Before the next session, inspect the roller movement, abrasive surface, and magnetic grip. Stop using damaged or loose components.

Wear has no universal timetable

Abrasive life depends on blade steel, pressure, cleaning, and how often you sharpen. We have not independently verified a service-life figure for these rollers. Reduced cutting action can have several causes; pressing harder is not a reliable remedy.

Replacement rollers are coming soon, with price, compatible fit, and pack contents to be published at release. There is no announced release date or preorder. Use only replacements specified for your set.

General knife-care guidance. Follow your knife maker’s recommendations and the tool instructions. Check blade fit before sharpening and clean your knife before preparing food.
