Magnetic wood base + dual rolling abrasives
The method
01Match the knife maker’s guidance. Check that the blade grips securely and the edge clears the base.
02Move the roller along the bevel with light pressure. Work both sides, keeping fingers behind the edge.
03Use the finer abrasive to refine the edge. Clean the knife separately, brush away dust, and store the set dry.
Start with a compatible magnetic steel knife with a plain, double-bevel edge. Follow the knife maker’s guidance. No fixed pass count or universal blade fit.

A little knowledge goes a long way
Different knives ask for different care. Five positions give you options; the right one starts with your knife maker’s recommendation.
Choose from the five positions marked on the guide. Ceramic, serrated, and single-bevel blades need a different approach.

More answersThe guide is marked 12°, 15°, 17°, 19°, and 22°. Start with your knife maker’s recommended sharpening angle and check whether it is expressed per side or as a total edge angle. A smaller number is not automatically better. If none of the positions suits your knife, choose another method or ask a professional.
Use it with magnetic steel knives that have plain, double-bevel edges. Check magnetic grip, blade height, and roller clearance first. Narrow blades, thick bolsters, and curved tips need particular care. Ceramic knives, serrated edges, scissors, and single-bevel blades need a different method. Chipped or damaged edges may need professional repair.
They identify the two nominal abrasive grades: approximately 400 grit for sharpening and 1000 grit for a finer finish. Grit numbers are approximate and are not independently certified measurements; grading can differ between abrasive systems. We do not claim a certified diamond composition or a fixed abrasive lifespan. Use light pressure and check the edge rather than relying on a fixed pass count.
The set includes a magnetic five-angle wood base, a wood rolling sharpener, and dual sharpening abrasives marked 400# and 1000#, presented in a fitted box. Knives, cutting boards, and other styling props in the photos are not included. The complete set is $59 USD.
